Malachi let out a heavy sigh. "Oh, that," he said, sadly, looking down at the cards. It wasn't something he liked to think about. In fact, it was something he always tried not to think about even if he had to push it aside consciously and focus on something else instead. He'd hurt his mother, he knew, when he came here and more when he changed his name to his father's. She didn't understand; she'd never understand and he was okay with that. It was his decision, his life. She'd lived hers her way and now it was time for him to live his his way even if it was hard on those he loves.
"That makes sense," he went on softly. "I don't think about that... well, not if I can help it." Taking a deep breath, he glanced up at her again for a second, and hoping that she didn't expect him to get into this personal issue with her, before dropping his eyes quickly back to the cards. "Next card?" he requested in a low voice, looking down at the cards.
