For a while, after the war, Millicent had stayed in the employment of Gringotts. Over the years, while the Goblins themselves had been a bit of a pain in her arse, they had given her a lot. Opportunity, being the main thing, which she absolutely appreciated. Which is why it made sense to assist a bit in the rebuilding of their institution after years of being, in large part, cut off from the rest of the world. However, as the date honed in on almost a year post war, Millie took her leave, realizing she would have a hell of a lot more freedom and enjoyment offering her translation services to various businesses. Many who had lost ties and wealth were scrambling to once again, make financial alliances and investments, and Millicent was more than happy to piggy back off that sort of scheme. Someone who kept all dealings absolutely confidential, and charged less, perhaps, than several different translators on payroll. Yet she still made quite enough to live a lavish lifestyle as a single woman, and well, room and board was included in her fee, with non-negotiable specifics.
Of course, she still made her way back to London every once in a while. It was still home, but by and large she spent a greater portion of her time traveling. And while it seemed glamorous, she did miss stability. But after having spent so many years caged in, Millicent was determined to make up for lost time, as well as save up enough so maybe she wouldn't have to work for a while. And considering all of the jobs she had lined up, she was well on her way. Of course, she still suffered from the emotional and psychological detriment of what she dubbed the 'pure reign of terror', but she had rebuild herself once and learned healthy coping mechanisms. She had managed to maintain a lot of that in the aftermath, finding strength and happiness in being useful.
But she never lost touch with those she was close with, Kit being one of them. She had reunited with her little girl, and started a new career, of that much, she knew. But letters were vastly different from catching up in person, which is why she was thrilled to have the other woman agree to a trip. One where Millie had already insisted she would take care of accommodations. Her hotel suite was large enough for the two of them, after all. No sense in wasting money, or space.
So she waited patiently at the Egyptian Magical Travel hub as her friend appeared, Millicent yelling out in excitement before running up and pulling Kit into a hug. "It's so good to see you!" she exclaimed before looking at her bag with a nod, and holding out her arm. "We can apparate to a hidden spot next to my hotel. Figure you can put up your things, see a great view! Then we can head out to Zamalek. Fancy neighborhood I'm staying in... what's the point of working for rich companies if you can't exploit them for cool places to stay, eh?" winking she waited until Kit grabbed on, along with her bag, and transported them to a small courtyard surrounded by tall walls on all sides. "Alright, streets just past that wall," she said, motioning to their right and quickly emerging in almost the same fashion as one went through platform 9 3/4. A nifty alcove in a bustling area.
On the other side was bustling restaurants, laughter, talking, storefronts, and of course, people. "There's a ton of crazy restaurants here, or we could just grab cappuccino and a snack. After that, the world is your oyster, though I do recommend the art museum here. I thought you might enjoy that. I also plan to hit up the Bazaar before you go. Anything sound more appealing than the other?"
