It was really quite strange to see most of their flat stowed away in boxes. It felt rather empty. He knew it was a bit silly, but he was suddenly feeling rather nostalgic for the flat that they had half piled into after graduation. He had always gotten overly attached to things, and somehow, in the midst of things, he'd come to think of the flat similar to a person rather than simply a place. While he was, of course, glad to be moving into some place that was a little nicer, some place that would be a little safer, he would be hard pressed to admit that a lot of important things hadn't happened here.
He brought the last of his boxes down out of his now empty room. He wasn't looking forward to going to the werewolf packs. Things never seemed to end well there, but Dumbledore was resilient about trying to win them over, by trying to point out that the He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was a liar who couldn't offer them anything better. The problem was that the werewolves were too quick to throw that back in his face; things weren't any better under the Ministry, so, if they were forced to join, why not serve the side that would let them kill who they pleased? They reminded him that, even with his education and his wand, he didn't fit in. He couldn't hold down a job. They told him the Ministry would soon turn on him.
It was often demoralizing, but he knew that if the work was important to Dumbledore, then he should still try. But he couldn't help but worry about everything that was happening here as well. He knew how difficult things were for Marlene, and it was clear that Sirius was going to be doing something rather soon; Marlene had already expressed her worry, but Remus had never known how to control Sirius. And in the end, Sirius was somewhat right. He was a member of the Order, same as every one else. He might have been reckless sometimes, but he was also exceedingly competent.
Remus leaned against one of his boxes and waited for Sirius. He was still only wearing a t-shirt and a pair of denims. His feet were bare, but he didn't know when Sirius was actually going to decide to grace him with his presence.
