Merry Holidays from Dumbledore's Army
18 December Dinner Service
There was an excitement in the air as classes ended this week and students packed for the journey to come the following morning. While a few students were scheduled to stay at the castle for the Holiday season, the majority of the student body was in great anticipation of spending the remainder of the year back home.
Dinner that particular evening was accompanied by a not-so-enthusiastic speech of holiday cheer from Headmaster Snape. A reminder from Alecto Carrow to remain vigilant in their observations of Holiday traditions to make sure they weren't entirely filled with pro-muggle propaganda.
The food, of course, was well crafted and paired with roast beef, roasted potatoes, a selection of veggies, and a variety of Holiday desserts.
Around 6:45pm, however, an unexpected snowfall began. Where the enchanted snow of the Great Hall was usually stuck above the heads of the room's inhabitants, a flurry of fliers rained down instead. These fliers snowed down in the thousands. Cut out to look like large paper snowflakes they were scribbled with a message.
As students began to make note of the message they were being sent the staff table took notice. Amycus Carrow snatched one of the snowflakes from the air and read it, but before he could call out to the student body to calm down, his sister flicked her wand and every piece of parchment was burnt up into ash. Flitwick moved into action to counter the spell back to the usual snow, but the Carrows and Headmaster were so distraught by the prank that the hilarity of it was missed.
"TO BED! EVERYONE!" Snape bellowed over the sudden firey death of Dumbledore's Army snowflakes.
"NOW!" Amycus barked.
Collectively the student body emptied the Great Hall. Prefects and Inquisitorial Squad members were in place to monitor the migration of students back to their common rooms. That, of course, did not stop the rumours.
