The first Inquisitorial Squad training session is held in the IS Headquarters. The hall had been magically rearranged so that the tables and seating areas were replaced with mats and enchanted training dummies.
Amycus Carrow is particularly enthusiastic about this first training session. He's eager to remind squad members that this is his truest element. He brags regularly of his experience working with professional duelists. He regularly reminds everyone that he knows how to turn the weakest of them into the best wand wielders of their age.
At one point, Geoffrey Hooper asked, "Uh, why do we have to learn to duel? Aren't we just writing students up for misconduct?"
To which Amycus responded, "You'll find that some troublemakers will have the audacity to fight back once they've been caught. These skills will prepare you for anything."
For today's session, students are learning defensive tactics and a Fire Bind Spell. Similar to a body bind curse this spell includes conjuring firey ropes around the target's body.
Amycus explains, "This Fire Bind will teach your targets immediately that they've done wrong. It should be used on any troublemakers that attempt to run away or are too far from your immediate grasp."
Students are told to pair up and find an enchanted dummy. These dummies are magically programmed to perry, dodge, and deflect the spell. They are also programmed to fire back. Their offensive is designed to be a bolt of light that gives a small electrical shock to the recipient. The faster the student blocks and sends back a curse the quicker the dummy will return theirs.
Squad members will need to learn how to perform quick defensive blocks and send offensive attacks with quick reflexes.
Amycus made a point to remind everyone that how they perform in this training session will be considered for the IS Leadership roles available. Leaders will be announced at the Halloween Fest at the end of the month.
