Axel: Rae & Fen
A faint snort rolled from his nostrils, a guttural sort of grunt that made up the way Fen laughed. It was far removed from that he'd done as a boy, where the rolling fields of the Vale had provided him endless pleasure. Her words rang true, but the notion of consequence was something not lost to Fen and some part of him balked at them in reflex. After if, if the concern was to keep his appetites concealed, he never would have found cause to leave the Vale at all. The comedy of that, at least in how his life had come to be so much skulking and subterfuge now, was not lost on him.
"There is nothing the world will not devour, if enough time can be given it." His words were detached from any of the violence tucked neatly into their margins. The wolf knew to dig deep, to leave no trace of himself as best he was able. It stood in contrast to how he behaved now, standing shoulder to shoulder with his siblings and ready to be a wall, a shield, for them both — unlikely as it was that either needed it. No doubt the three of them together would turn the heads of many from their past, however if Rae's own gaze was one that could be considered idle by comparison, then Fen was willing to take that for what it was.
Her laugh though, it tipped his ear and he with it. A shared laugh of sorts followed, a thing he'd not done in an age longer than he could remember.
"The path to that end is straight and narrow." As Fen knew there was only one way to be certain. He'd devour them to the last, letting his hunger grow boundless and stop at nothing, not even if his belly were to burst from the weight. "If it is not your intent to block it, then there should be no concern about being trampled underfoot." It wasn't a threat, as Fen saw no need to apply such pressures at this point, but a fact. If the wolf set his paws to charge, if his teeth were barred and seeking throats, then nothing would be permitted to stand in his way and no time would be spared to alter course for those who stood in his way be it by accident or otherwise.
