Re: Axel: Eli & Mao
Mao laughed, full and and uninhibited, but not cruel, as Eli flailed about. He knew that was going to happen, and it was just as amusing as he anticipated. Maybe he was a jerk to find joy in the misfortunes of others, but maybe they shouldn’t look so funny trying not to fall on their asses.
“Didn’t I tell you to keep your legs together?” He chided as he came to Eli’s rescue by offering an arm. “It is reflexes and balance. Just remind yourself that you’re the master of your body, it does what you tell it to do.” A rare bit of sagely advice amidst the nonsense he usually spouted.
“How about this? Squat down a little.” He tugged Eli to coax him into position as he spoke. Mao didn’t know the hows and whys of the benefits of having a lower center of gravity when wanting to keep your balance, he just knew Eli would have an easier time staying upright if he did what he told him. “Keep your legs locked and your feet straight. Then grab hold of me and I’ll take you for a spin, okay?” It’d be like water skiing with Mao acting as the boat. All Eli had to do was not let go.
