Re: Axel: Rae & Fen
"There is and endless fascination they same to have with trying to hold onto handfuls of sand." Fen replied, his gaze a mirror of her own out at the rink. He was pleased that neither seemed to hold onto the pretense that they weren't of the same root, but no shred of that showed upon his expression. It was much like the way he didn't miss the way she toyed with the popcorn kernel without fully looking or the way he bent his ear toward the sound of her voice when she asked the very pointed question.
"It does." He confirmed, with this interaction being another pin in that idea. "And many of the towns I have wandered through have been bereft of interest." Which was true though his antiquated wording was probably a clue as to just how many towns he had in fact wandered through. "Here, at least, there is some manner of things to keep one on their toes." Whether that was good or bad would only be told by time but Fen seemed apathetic toward the outcome. In truth, the notion of prophecy was one of the few things that set him on edge, but the simple fact was he was not about to abandon his siblings any sooner than he was turn tail at the idea of finally exacting his pound of flesh from Uncle Ozzie.
"I suppose that would depend on if we count towns that have changed names as more than one?" It was a slight tip of his hand, a scrap that he was using as a means to barter into conversation. "More than most." Came his answer either way as his weight came to rest on his elbow. "But also there is something to be said for the dull silence of an uninteresting place from time to time." He finally pulled his gaze away from the link and leveled it plainly in her direction. "Though like all dull things, they do not hold my attention long." And the fact that she still held enough weight to move his mouth to make words?
Well, that was probably as close to a compliment as things got in the world outside of his siblings.
