[The grills: Castor & Pollux]
It actually took a considerable effort not to hang on the way she spoke to the point the food would burn. He wasn't used to people engaging in conversation like she was and he was thoroughly enjoying it. Discussions like these, they made him feel more connected to the world, less crazy at the very least, and these days that feeling was priceless.
"Can feelings be wrong?" He turned the question back around on her. "I think sometimes we're wrong, but that's from how I look at it. As long as we're not talking about people who hurt other people on purpose, and even then I think that's actions and thoughts, not always the people..." Will did believe that there was genuine evil in the world, that some people just saw no other way than to prey on others. "But like you said, I don't think it's that black and white either. I think, when it comes down to telling people the truth, then that's a personal decision we've got to make. If we think it's right to say it and take the consequences, I think that still counts as being responsible for it." He turned a look up to her. "And for the record, that's the way I prefer it. I'd always rather hear what someone thinks than what they think I want to hear."
"You're not wrong though, that some people can't compromise or disagree without it being an issue. Dealing with those types of people can be difficult, but when it comes to people who want to say or do things that are bad for you? You don't have to take that at all." His words weren't so soft just then. He'd always had an issue with people being cruel to one another and had no stomach for predators.
"That's a good way to be though." He agreed, mirroring her smile. It was hard not to really. "Life's all about the experience." She was a good egg, he decided on the spot and when she went on to say she was glad she met him he turned a fond smile in her direction. "And I'm really glad we can share this one and some more in the future. It's a real good time." As if to drive the point home, he slid the first plate of kabobs over in front of her. Will had always been a big fan of Xenia, even before he knew what it was called or before he had a deity of old living inside his head.
"It really is." He agreed about the magic as he went about plating the rest of the kabobs. "And I think all of it has its merits. If nothing else, the contrast is important. It's hard to know sweet without bitter et cetra." He waved a hand slightly, putting the pile of kabobs in the center of the table and sat across from her before taking one for himself. "Amazement is one of those perception things and I've got to say I like the way you look at things."
He liked listening to her talk about her family, but turned his head slightly when she spoke about herself. He appreciated she didn't sound like she was putting herself down and, after a bite of grilled pineapple was chewed and swallowed, he nodded. "I don't think either of those things about you. I just think you're yellow." He smirked across the table at her. "I do hope I get the chance to meet them though. Maybe we can invite them out when I'm a bit less mysterious." Another smirk, another bite.
"So you like reading, dancing, and coffee? If so, we've got that in common." Though saying he liked 'dancing' was probably a stretch. Will had two left feet and the rhythm of a penguin on land, but that didn't stop him from having a good time. "I'm also a big fan of camping and photography." He volunteered.
"As for my friends?" He broke up the words with another bite and he politely cleared his mouth before he spoke again. "I'd say you make up the bulk of them since I came here. There's one other person I met and she's really nice, but it's a bit of a difficult situation. We're both coming out of some hard times that can make us a bit abrasive to each other." He thought that was a polite way to put it. "But we're helping each other through it too." He didn't seem bothered to share it, any more than he was by the fact his current list of friends was so short.
"I left most everyone I knew behind when I decided to pack up and change my life around, so I'm kind of starting over." He explained. "But so far? I'd say things are looking pretty good. Better by the bite even."
