Re: The Woods: Full Moon > Pack Trailers in the Woods
There were too many bodies around him - too much stimulus after the transformation. He hadn't been around so many wolves for years, especially not one who commanded the power of an alpha. He automatically shifted away from the girl that was near him, not wanting there to be anyone in his space. He'd allow it from the man across the clearing (how could he not?) but not from anyone else.
He was aware of all those other bodies, though. The way one woman wrapped her arms around herself (and he wanted to give her a blanket off the clothesline), the way another, the one who'd been closer before, shifted over onto the leaves. There were others in the pack, on the periphery, and he could almost feel them breathe into the expectant forest air.
The fact that the alpha was limping made no difference to him. Alpha was Alpha, no matter what. He remembered that much, at least. But the words - the ones that were strong and called to him to bare his throat - they made no sense to him. The violence inherent in them made sense, but not the actual meaning. His own brows came down in confusion, some of the tension shifting into not understanding as he tried to figure out what the Alpha meant. "What?" He was quiet, never quite lifting his voice very loud in any situation. "There were enough people looking." Because of course that had to be it.
