Re: The Woods: Full Moon > Pack Trailers in the Woods Silly girl. The words weren't said, but Ana had the wolf's practice at conveying something while saying nothing. It was the sketch of eyebrows upward, the flick of the jaw from alpha to the boy cringing in expectation to the young thing trying to sidle closer to do what? Stand against the alpha? Young. Ana revised the assessment downward; the girl was old enough to be out of youth but she wasn't wise enough to be beyond a pup. You didn't put yourself between the alpha and pack, even if you didn't know who he was.
She recognized the boy who was now a man. A handful of years and distance and boys became men who became the alpha. He lacked the physical presence that would make the people in the town look at him with appreciation of power, but he commanded it now among the woods and the wolves and people they were rapidly sliding back into being. Ana watched. She shrugged; if the pack were going to pretend the rules no longer applied, it was no skin off her nose. She wrapped arms around her middle for warmth and watched, unblinking.
