Re: The Woods: Full Moon > Pack Trailers in the Woods
This was a lot to take in at once. He didn't even have the capacity to properly greet Ana, returned from God knows where and a spot in Cisco's memory the last time he came out for Thanksgiving, several years ago. Ordinarily he would have had the wherewithal to extend a tentative hand of (stern? friendly? guarded? he wasn't sure yet) acknowledgment to the skinny female and the other new female, who, when she joined the loose circle crowded around the warmth of the fire pit, materialized into a very familiar Parker. Cisco felt sure he would have noticed if his old school friend had been a wolf for the first third of their lives, so he gave her a slightly open-mouthed look of unmistakable what-the-hell-Parker before he remembered to be Mr. Leader Alpha Man.
All the formalities would have been extended, and everybody would have got with the grub promptly once the alpha had taken a cursory bite of something, but Cisco didn't have any intention of doing that, not yet. He made everybody wait.
He made everybody wait because he was looking past the general circle and in the direction of the skinny female (sorry, she would remain so in his head regardless of whether she was on four legs or two), and an unmistakable Jacob. He remembered the guy in a very hazy, very distant way, long before his brother had become Alpha and only in the way you remember somebody who lived down the street from you ten years ago. But he knew his name, and he remembered what the lady had said about her son, the son who had just recently turned into a wolf and trotted away, sparking a county-wide search.
Talk about protecting secrets. Cisco was grinding his teeth before he even knew what was happening. "Hey, you." The entire pack turned as one to stare at the omega (since that was what he certainly must be). "Jacob, Jacob--Jacob whatever-your-name-is. Get over here."
