She didn't know if retribution was the Jersey-Wainright way, but he'd hit hard enough that there could only be one outcome. And maybe he had priors here, she didn't know and hadn't looked him up yet. Eventually, she would, when she was safe on a line that couln't be traced. That was a safety that the forest couldn't afford.
"Fair enough," she said, quiet, thoughts already leaping to how to explain. Maybe the basic way was the easiest. "I shape shift. I can't control it though." Which, maybe, sounded a little concerning but it really wasn't. It happened when she needed it to and hadn't happened when she didn't.
