Re: [Outside Vade: Atticus/Steve]
Didn't think definitions could be out of date. Thought they just had different thoughts about relationships. Wasn't surprising to Atticus. Had run into the same kind of situation talking to Janus way back when, the only difference was Steve hadn't slammed the door in his face yet. Had to think briefly when Steve asked if Janus being young was the same as being a woman for Atticus. "Something like that. Have never been interested in young men. Billy tried to get into my bed for months. Was never interested. Think it's because I teach students that age, so they're never sexual for me." Was something Atticus was very firm about. For him, it was a line that could not be crossed. "Know there's nothing wrong with it. Isn't illegal. But kids at that age don't know who they are yet. Think they do, but they don't. Need to be with other kids that are at the same stage of life." Was probably more than Steve had asked to hear, but was something Atticus felt strongly about.
Atticus was much more comfortable than he'd expected to be in this type of situation. The truth was that he was glad to finally be talking about this, which was surprising. Even he was surprised. "Don't think I'm looking for my relationship with my parents, foster parents, doctors, or haunts." Wasn't exactly sure who took care of him more as a child. Might be pretty evenly distributed among that group. "But you were happy with Peggy. Why doesn't it define it?" Took another sip. "This is where I ask what you want, in a general way."
