Re: [Outside Vade: Atticus/Steve]
The pub was just a few feet away, and Atticus gratefully stepped inside the propped door and out of the heat. The place was small, wooden and crowded. One wall featured the bar, which ran along it from front to back, and the other wall had small wooden tables and chairs. Atticus bellied up to the bar, intending to get a drink and go sit, but the bartender was at the far end helping another pair of drinkers.
Glanced over at Steve, assuming Steve had walked inside with him. "Meant before the phone call. Did you think you were dating Janus before? Think dating involves actually going out together." Shook his head and grabbed a peanut from a tin bucket on the bar. Worked at peeling the shell thoughtlessly. "Think Janus wants to be accepted as whatever Janus feels like matches their emotions on that day. Is fair. Would probably want that too if I was Janus. My point is we never actually dated. Any of us. Talked about it. Fought over it. Never actually did it. I'm more of a doing kind of guy. Went on one date with Janus. Think I scared him half to death on that date. This was never going to work with the three of us, because it was never the three of us. Was Janus talking to you. Me talking to you. You interpreting."
The bartender began to walk over and Atticus tossed a 20 on the bar. "What can I get you?" he asked the man at his side, and then he popped the liberated peanut into his mouth.
