"I'd feel like I was forcing it too, if they made themselves male around me all the time when I didn't ask for it. That said, you didn't ask for it. You're not forcing Janus to do anything. They took the choice from you, and I've taken issue with that from the beginning. And I agree hiding that way is just a bandaid. If you two want to talk about it, maybe they'll undo it and be happier, and there won't be as much conflict." Atticus chuckled, but Steve didn't. He looked over, then around, wondering if they were coming up on the pub. "Do I think I'm dating Janus or do I think you are? I don't think I am. I said as much on the phone."
Steve didn't say anything to the last bit Atticus shared with him. It was an understatement that being the mediator sucked, that being the only thing holding it together sucked. He just shook his head.
