Re: [Hookerville: Hannah & Reece]
Hannah kind of knew he hadn't ever considered the things she was saying. People, she realized, didn't think about those things, and why would they? They were entirely themselves. Even if they went crazy, and even if they forgot things, they were still their own people, and it was different to be controlled. It really was, and no mattered how many times people told her otherwise it didn't actually change what she knew in her bones. Maybe she'd had other lives and looked other ways and loved people. Maybe, maybe, maybe, and she smiled at him. She knew he was trying to be supportive, and she appreciated it very much. "I have to go to work. I'm on loan, and if I don't go the government will return me to Tethys," she reminded him, but she reached out and patted his hand. "It's okay. It'll be okay, Reece. I promise."
She knew he was freaking out over there. She knew, and she understood. "I remember when I realized I was what I was. It was bad. I didn't do very well at first," she told him truthfully. "But it was still better to know, and you might be wrong. We might be wrong about everything, and wouldn't it be good to know that?" she asked him, and she hoped he was wrong. Clone, AI, something else they hadn't thought about, she hoped he was wrong, and she slipped her fingers down into his and squeezed. "And even if it's the worst thing, whatever you imagine that's worst, you'll be okay. You aren't alone, okay?"
