Re: [Hookerville: Hannah & Reece]
"No, no." Reece spoke immediately, the words bubbling up to his lips without hesitation. He didn't want Hannah to feel bad for being like, real with him. "Obviously you're going to worry about it." She was listing more possibilities, the kind that never really crossed Reece's mind because apparently he'd taken his humanity both as a given and for granted. "We're not going to let you get scraped or anything. I mean, like, can we do a back... a backup of your memory? Or... something? God, maybe you shouldn't go to work." None of these were real solutions, and he knew that, but Reece reacted with anxiety to a lot of things, and now he was worried for Hannah in ways it hadn't occurred to him to be worried before.
His anxiety made it difficult to continue. If anything, it was ratcheted up, and Reece squinted his eyes open when Hannah tipped her head to her shoulder in a spill of strawberry blonde. "Maybe we shouldn't look into it." He almost whispered it, but that felt melodramatic, so he whispered the first two words, then talked at a normal volume, which was weird, but whatever. "I mean..., if it—if I'm not insane, then I have a whole host of new problems. And if I am, then..., well. Whatever, I'm insane. It's better to be insane in this case maybe? For me? Specifically for me?"
