Re: log: cat, matt, emily
[There was no good reason why Emily couldn't go to the Capital, but if she was willing to risk her health, she had her reasons. He accepted that. There were many things he could accept on that basis - people had their reasons, and you left them to them.
He let her assure him that she understood antibiotics. That might be true, but people forgot to give them to their pets for the full course of treatment, so reminding a human being was always par for the course. She had already risked herself by waiting this long. It couldn't hurt to say it.
He liked Cat's scoff, and he glanced up at her. He still wasn't very good with people, with the subtleties of what they were feeling, but he found body language easy to understand. Cat's nervousness meant she cared about her friend. She tried to conceal how much, but not that she cared at all. It felt good, knowing she could care about something.
He took the hot towel and gently cleaned the wound, first with mild soap, then rinsing it clean and patting it dry. The cream came next. He administered it and wrapped the wound in gauze with slow, deliberate care. For a brief moment, he didn't seem quite so much in his own head. He was focused on fixing something, and that required all of his attention.
When he finished, he stood to wash his hands.]
You should take care of yourself. [Plainly, succinctly. She wasn't doing that. But it was important.]
