Re: [postcard: scully & mulder]
[Opposing, with color and imagination. This postcard arrives in a matte envelope of ash-blue.]
Absolutely. I think that many people might even like to stand out on one day and then maybe not at all for many days that follow. Do you like to stand out from the crowd? Personally, I like the idea of it, but think that I fall short in practice. I think that I blend, and that's alright. Commonplace, it doesn't have to mean comfortable. There are always connotations. I just believe things that are ordinary are therefore familiar, and that can be very comfortable to people. Outsiders can make people uncomfortable. Peculiar goes against the grain, and people who function well in society really love the grain.
When I think about that, the light of dying stars, it saddens me. It makes me think about loss, and loss hasn't ever been very beautiful to me. I understand why it can be, from a poetic standpoint. But not all things that wrench upon the heart are lovely to me.
I appreciate a good mystery, and in some ways I've built my life around solving them. I don't think that I've ever solved one in a day. I might not have ever solved one at all, but I still actively work toward it. The process can sometimes be even more important than the discovery.
What can I say, I like to bait breath. What do you think we could make this constellation to be?
[Included in the envelope is a plain white index card with a constellation depicted in blue pen.]
