Re: [Yelling, maybe: Steve, Janus, Atticus]
Steve knew he wasn't a lone wolf. He knew Atticus and Janus had a right to their own choices, too, but he didn't feel he'd done wrong this time around. This—this revealing of himself, of who he really was to the public, was something done for himself, for the people he could reach that way. It was done for something much bigger and much smaller, and Steve should've sat down to talk it over, but he couldn't stop the momentum once he had it. Too, he needed the military people who cared about these things to not look at the people he was involved with too closely. (Janus, after all, was dead.) "They'll find out, if we're not vigilant about it, and if there're people who don't need to know what you are, it's the military." He was firm about that.
But, then Janus was doing something. It became hot in the kitchen, almost like the stove was on, and Janus looked like he was burning from without. In his place was Janis. Steve was still leaning against the counter with his coffee cup, and he looked to Atticus, who could only feel more on edge now. "It's fine."
