Re: log: welcome home - adrian and dietre You’re an adult. Dietre silently mulled this over, chewing slowly. He couldn’t recall anyone calling him an adult before, and truthfully, he did not feel like one. An adult had their life together, they could take care of themselves as well as others. They were independent, not like him. Age wise he was undeniably an adult. He could smoke, he could vote, he could drink, all legally. But was it possible for an adult for feel so lost all the time? It didn’t seem right to be so afraid and clueless.
“Yes, it is basically a long room with a kitchen on one side and a loft for a bedroom.” Everything a person could need fit neatly together in a little package, all on wheels. “I never considered that I could move it… It was convenient living on carnival property, but no, I did not care much for living there. I don’t fit in.” A recurring theme. It was clear Dietre didn’t feel like he fit in anywhere. “If you’d like to see it, I could show you, sometime..?”
Though he felt full halfway through, Dietre made himself eat the whole BLT. His aversion to coming off as ungrateful might put some meat on his bones. As long as Adrian cooked he’d eat everything set in front of him to avoid seeming rude.
Dietre noted the change in Adrian, but didn’t know what to make of it. “Hm… My classes were easy enough, but everything else… It was an unpleasant time for me. I ended up having to leave.” Somehow he couldn’t find it in him to feel ashamed at being a college drop out. He had been forced to go to begin with. Taking up Adrian’s analogy, he added, “It was a nightmare.”
