Re: log: welcome home - adrian and dietre
“It’s me that people have difficulty standing after a while. But yes, we’ll see…” Dietre’s stubborn pessimism and self hatred rubbed others the wrong way, even Misha lost his patience with him once in a while. He couldn’t blame Liam for wanting to distance himself, who needed an iron weight around their ankles when they were already drowning?
After one sip Dietre decided beer was not his thing, but being a polite guest, he would still drink the whole bottle. The carbonation prickled his throat, something he wasn’t very used to as he rarely drank soda. tHe wasn’t even all that fond of wine, really. Drinking was something he did to try to calm his nerves in a social setting, not for pleasure. But the sandwich was very good and he ate steadily.
“I had a private room in college and… other places. I suppose that’s still communal living, but this seems different somehow.” Dietre preferred to fade into the background, and at college and Quiet Home there had been enough other people living there that he could maintain a sort of anonymity. When you were one of only two people sharing a space, however, you couldn’t exactly ignore the other person. “At the carnival I had my own tiny house-- Well, I still have it, actually. Once I get better at being independent, I can move back…”
“Did you like college?” He wasn’t sure how to interpret Adrian being ‘all over the place’.
