Re: log: welcome home - adrian and dietre
Dietre was not athletic, tall and slight, there was a grace in his manner that rendered him not unpleasing. Some might consider his unhealthy look chic, but there was no doubt that regular meals and some exercise would do him considerable good. Sleep too, though his battle with insomnia was not as easy of a fix as eating.
“Oh, not at all…!” Joke detection was not Dietre’s strong suit. No matter how obvious one might be, he often couldn’t help but second guess his understanding, and so found himself inevitably embarrassed by his reaction when he realized he was right the first time. “I just- I’ve yet to meet anyone in your profession.” Blushing, he slumped his shoulders once Adrian looked away, wincing at his awkwardness.
Having explored the livingroom, the sound of activity in the kitchen lured Sieglinde to join the pair. She was very much interested in the food making process, sniffing around Adrian’s feet and giving him hopeful looks until Dietre snapped his fingers to draw her away. “I’m a pianist. Not professionally, really… Playing at the carnival has been my only job so far,” he explained. “Misha hired me. I hadn’t worked prior.”
He hoped that mentioning Misha’s hand in hiring him would belay any questions of how he met the boy. Dietre didn’t want to be deceitful, but he was concerned over not making a bad impression so soon. Maybe later, when he got settled and he and Adrian were used to one another, could he bring up Quiet Home. He wasn’t going to needlessly endanger a potential friendship if it could be avoided.
