Re: Sonrisa: oliver & hunter & appearances by cris
Cris knew 'nough 'bout dogs, huh? But, he was distracted. His phone started going off and he fetched it from his back pocket, turning away from the two boys to look out the windowa Sonrisa. His eyes followed any movement outside outta habit, not interest, as he listened to the line. He held his thumb between his front teeth, made the appropriate sounds in response, and hung up, still blinking out that window at First Street.—After a moment, he let his chin hit his chest and his ran his fingers through his hair, from nape to crown, and gave a soft, "Shit."
The B&B needed his attention. Irritation plain on his face, he turned to Oliver and Hunter and the assembled dogs, hands on his hip and chin now lifted. He shook his head, turning his attention to Hunter, even as he spread his hand a bit for Becky to sniff at before she bounded away to check on her master. (Least she didn't seem to hold a grudge, huh?)
"I gotta go. You put the window in. I'll come back and check in as soon as I can." The Sheriff's mind was already working fast on the stuff he needed to get in order before he showed at the B&B. "Everything's down there. Glaze, yadda, yadda, but you need anything from the general store,—" He pulled a bank-fresh fifty dollar bill outta his wallet and pressed it to the kid's palm. "—Hopefully that covers it. If not, you lemme know."
Cris started zipped up his jacket. "And try to behave, huh?" That was aimed at the botha them—and the dogs for good measure. He gave the group a wave and left the art shop without looking back.
