Re: Sonrisa: oliver & hunter & appearances by cris
When the door opened, Cris looked up—over—down. Hunter—door—puppy. With an annoyed sound, clipped, in the backa his throat, he gingerly set the panea glass down again, and he walked 'round Hunter as Oliver skewered the poor kid with a cold, judgmental gaze, and he opened the damn door.
"C'mon," he said to the dogs, knowing they weren't gonna listen to him, 'cept maybe the perrito. His chin to his shoulder, he looked at the thief he was rehabilitating and gestured toward the dogs crowded on the sidewalk. "Tell 'em they can come in."—It was too cold to make 'em stay outside, was Cris' reasoning. And as long as they didn't tear 'round wild, he was sure Sam wouldn't care if they came inside. Tedito was running amok every time she was present anyway, huh? So, yeah, ven, dogs.—He waited, palm on the door, 'til—if—Hunter complied, before closing it and cutting off the cold blocka wind trying to muscle through the shop and his body.
Dios, it was cold. Jacket and gray sweater, he did kinda miss his hoodie, huh? He'd hafta get another.—Brief, the guy was oblivious to the petulance on display, but that blissful ignorance melted fast, and he walked up next to Hunter, bold-browed amusement on his face. Right. The cock-measuring had begun. He prolly shoulda been expecting this, but, so long outta being a kid himself, he hadn't. And if he'da been thinking smarter, he wouldn'tna told Oliver nothing 'bout Hunter. He shoulda said something 'bout just some help. But, it was too late now. He rubbed his chin with his hand, palm over stubble he hadn't bothered to shave off since he hadn't showered yet, and gave the kids a beat before he responded to the betrayal in Hunter's gaze.
"He works here. I hadta tell him, so he didn't find the window and thinka callin' me official, huh?" He was patient in spelling it out and he patted Hunter on the shoulder, paternal and fraternal at once. Sorry, brother. And to Oliver, with the same straightforward patience, "Maybe stop starin' at the kid. People consider that rude, huh?" He gestured between the boys. "Oliver, Hunter. Hunter, Oliver."
