Re: Cat & Reece, one of the front sections.
[Whatever Cat got or understood about any of this, I guarantee Reece didn't. He didn't really know what was going on besides the scraps Cat had told him, and he knew there was some bigger picture he just didn't see. But, none of that was particularly important to him, even if it should've been. He'd obviously fucked things up on the phone. But, he should've known by now that saying anything even remotely dissenting from what Cat thought struck her as criticism, especially when she was emotional or stressed. For a while, Reece'd done a lot better at keeping his mouth shut. Then, he'd blown it ALL to hell at the motel. He'd been crawling back from it, especially since being made older, but, well, it was like it was bound to happen or something, and every time it did, Cat shut down. She went to do whatever—score or whatever she'd said‚ leaving him to just like sit at home.
He'd distracted himself by packing. He packed a bag of things for himself—clothes, whatever, and he'd taken care to add an outfit or two for Cat. He had her weird dowry box she'd asked for. It was tucked under a seat an aisle or so away on the plane, where he was already seated. It was unfortunate that the plane had weird little alcoves, because they clearly weren't made for someone 6'4" in mind, and Reece was stuffed into one. Legs in wine-red spilled out into the aisle, but it was what it was, man. He was trying to get more comfortable, but there really wasn't a good way to do that, but at least it meant he was shifting around when he heard someone else come onto the plane.
Cat didn't seem to realize he was there, and she plopped into a seat. With a huff of effort, Reece leveraged himself to his feet and crouch-walked over to the boy, careful to duck. It was hard fitting into the seat, but he did it, and he had the aisle, if nothing else. One foot flooded into it.] Hey, man. [Reece pushed a dark corkscrew curl back from Cat's cheek with metal fingers, then leaned his own head back, hand falling into his lap.] How's it hanging?
