Re: [Jester's Court: Cat & Jack]
Cat had deliberately not thought about Sasha in months. But, well, Eddie leaving had caused all those abandonment issues to surface, bloated and decaying and like corpses left too long in the sun. So, well, yes. Sasha, and Cat hoped his sister was somewhere being happy with her fishman. Too, he hoped Eddie was getting the treatment he needed, and he hoped the riddled man would return in a flash of purple and green, and as if nothing had ever happened at all. Cat didn't know how they'd ever deal with the threat of Dane with Eddie gone. Well, no, Cat knew perfectly well how they'd deal with it - they wouldn't. It would go untouched until Dane did something dreadful, and then they'd all wonder why they hadn't done something in the first place.
But, right, loss and finding himself, and Cat rolled his eyes. "He's at some treatment facility, and I don't think it's in India," Cat said, popping Jack's romanticized bubble and not feeling at all sorry for it. After all, why should Jack get to have romantic visions of Eddie in India, when the rest of them were left adrift and surrounded by the corpses of all who'd gone before, fishbelly eyes and no recognition in faces long gone? No, nope, not happening, but he did hope Eddie found himself. It was entirely selfish, that want, because Cat wanted Edison back, and that was that.
Cat sucked on the cigarette, and he listened to Jack's tasteless comment. Eyeroll, despite the fact that the phallic comparison had started with Cat himself, and Cat knew Jack wasn't sober. Hence, honesty, or maybe he would've been honest regardless. Who knew? Cat certainly didn't, so he just listened to Jack's whiskey-wisdom. "Everyone always thinks they have a say, just like everyone always thinks they know everything." As for the rest? Cat didn't realize Jack was asking about mirrors or rollercoasters, but his answer was thoughtless, quick, and with a smirky type of grin. The thin cigarette was tucked into the corner of his mouth. "Scream. Whenever you have the option? Always choose scream, Jack. Introspection is vastly overrated."
