I'm tempted to distraction by that statement, but, to stay on task. If you felt you pushed it, and if you felt obvious, then I think it's rather normal to believe someone must've seen, and why not Marta, as we were with her for ages. Tack onto this, of course, that Marta's your mate, and a good one. I'd've preferred it, of course, if you'd not left the table, but we all handle anxiety in different ways, and when you're feeling exposed already, especially by the perceived homosexuality, it's best, I think, for you, if there's space between us. My being there will only ramp up the existing anxiety. On edge, you'll see every comforting movement and every endearment as some sign everyone's witnessing, and I don't want that. So, your 'being a dick and bailing' seems a wise choice, as far as these things go.
