Re: Collision near the dance floor: Jamie & Patrick
Patrick was not what one would call a nosy dude. He waved at a few other Rangers passing through, some of them borrowed from the next county over for the event, and he let Jamie take care of mopping up his shirt. "I do not know if there's an industry geared to understanding chicks, my dude, but it makes sense. I do not think they find us as confusing." Patrick appreciated the simplicity of his fellow bros. Not that men did not have their own potential to be complicated, but he found them most straightforward, man, even when complicated. Chicks were never (in his experience) straightforward. They expected dudes to read their minds, and Patrick was not a good mind reader. He also did not have any significant comprehension of dudes wanting chicks to look like dudes. He did consider (briefly) if this was some gay slur, but he decided not. "Adrian? I do not know what he studies, man. Something brilliant." Which summed Patrick's siblings up in one word: Brilliant.
Jamie returned, rolling up his cuffs, and Patrick led him back out to where the lights swayed in humid breeze. "I drive," he said. Patrick, for all that he loved the woods, was not particularly cautious about his carbon footprint. Honestly, man, the dude did not even know what a carbon footprint was. He had a sizable truck with a sizable motor. Jamie was talking about breaks and cupcakes, and Patrick changed course and led the dude to where the remaining cupcakes languished. "No breaks tonight, man. I have been off the floor for too long already. I am glad you believe in breaks, but I believe in Mary, and Mary will have my ass if I do not work." He grabbed a cupcake, and he held it out to the dude. "You talk a lot," he finally added, because that could not go unsaid; the dude talked a lot.
He clapped Jamie on the shoulder, if the cupcake was claimed. "And sometimes, people you work with can turn out to be pretty all right, man. Do not knock it." He grinned a Gunster-smooth grin. "Barring that, hit Adrian up. He can tell you what science he does study."
