Re: [Diner: Marta & Patrick]
"Being tired enough isn't the issue." Just the thought of doing more before bed was daunting. She already hit the mattress with barely enough energy to pull the covers up around herself. Even then, her sleep was rarely deep enough, as she kept herself on the edge of waking, with an ear attuned to the sounds outside and at her room's door. But she realized that she needed a better explanation than she'd provided, so she gripped her coffee mug tighter and rubbed her thumbs out- and inward along the lip of it. "It's noisy..." Close enough to true.
She was glad when he laughed, and she smiled easier in return. Though she shook her head when he redirected that wink. "Flirt," she repeated, while trying to stifle a laugh of her own.
French toast and eggs were Marta's choice from the menu - just like she'd mentioned when they last spoke. And while she'd told him that he owed her breakfast, she was still careful of what she was ordering - not too much, just in case she did end up having to pay for herself. She'd been even more stingy with her money lately though, tucking away what she could for these breakfasts.
Once the waitress left again, both of them serious in the face of more somber topics, she nodded. "I don't know why Flash left. I think he was here just long enough to tell me, and then he was gone again." Her brows drew together and her gaze was more intent as Patrick spoke about his sister. "She left because you hurt her feelings?" She didn't try to hide her disbelief. That seemed like a fucked up reason to just leave like that.
