Re: [Climbing: Patrick & Newt]
It was most unkind, perhaps, the teasing, but it made Patrick feel better, and this likely said something about the dude's state of mind at present. The thing he was afraid of made him feel better, but this was not something he was interested in thinking about at present.
No, man, the dude was climbing the wall.
At first, he was certain that he was right about Newt's lack of physical acumen. But, man, he realized that perhaps he had been mistaken, and he realized it before Newt stopped to brush his fringe out of his eyes. This meant he was looking down to follow Newt's progress, but it was easy enough to say this was only concern for the dude's well-being. It was a tall wall.
Patrick climbed faster, despite the fact that the foot and handholds were harder to manage as one climbed higher. Three-quarters of the way to the flat landing at the top of the standalone wall, and the dude was sweating, skin glistening, and his arms aching. By this point, it took multiple tried to hoist up, since the arm strength required was impressive.
With a grunt, he pulled himself up and over the lip to the flat surface above the wall. There, he crouched and looked over the edge.
