Re: [Climbing: Patrick & Newt]
At least Patrick was smiling. Newt felt warm under the younger man's gaze, that sea-bright blue-green, but, it was worth whatever mild feelings of absurdity to witness a smile form on Patrick's lips. It was even better to watch it grow. Newt tucked his chin down, to let fringe sweep forward, and he looked through copper curls, up, at Patrick. It was only once he, Patrick, started undressing, that Newt lifted his chin. Now. He did want to say no. He meant to. But, Patrick was already reaching up, so prepared to strip, that it took everything in Newt and his absolute and utter homosexuality to say no. "Oh—" He shook his head, surprised and bloody distracted, and hating himself for that. Now was not the time. "No, no. It's all right."
But, from within the weft of his shirt, Patrick was speaking. "I've not," Newt replied of climbing a rock wall. "You'll have to, ah, show me the ropes. Pun unintended, but known about, in advance." The ginger man offered another smile. He did, in fact, hear the reasoning couched in Patrick's words, and he accepted it for what it was. If it made Patrick feel better, that was all that mattered to him. He knew Adrian wouldn't approve. That that thought even made its presence known in his mind was aggravating enough. But, while Newt didn't need Adrian's approval, certainly it would've made life easier for Patrick. Then again, life was easier for Patrick when he wasn't being held in a hospital where he knew everyone, so perhaps it all balanced out.
Newt only lightly pulled on the hem of Patrick's long-sleeved shirt, to tug it back down over the expanse of tank top. As much as he'd've liked to've not done as much, he did it. "I'll wear the maths shirt. I think it fits me just fine." It was a touch too large and it hung, but that was good, because the pants were a little too low on bony hips. "How're we getting there? Your stones?" Newt, for what it was worth, intended to try to get Patrick talking once they were climbing. But, for now, he was content to figure out the details and get them where they wanted to be. "I'll buy you dinner afterward, if you've not eaten." He smiled and it was quite cheeky. "As a friend."
