Scott couldn't see, not in the conventional sense, but his powers painted a picture. Like energy burning through paper. Some people radiated beyond themselves, glowing like a sun. Ema, Ema was singular. She was the color red if blood didn't bleed. Alpha. He liked that about her because he wasn't charming or good with words. He offended easy and Ema was strong enough to rarely take it personally.
He wanted to take his mask off for her, which was a stupid idea that was pushed aside immediately. Instead he tried to stand straighter, to look imposing. It was a natural thing he could do around enemies, students, elders. With her it felt forced, so he quit that quickly, too.
"Smell." Scott said after a few seconds of "looking" at her. "Er- not that you-" Failing. "I like the way you-" Miserably. He coughed. "What are you doing here?"
