Re: Quicklog: Sadie and Misha
Misha and Damian, they didn't really entertain. They never had done a sitdown dinner with folks invited, and when Jason was staying hadn't counted. Jason, Damian's brother, he'd lived on the couch for a whole long and sad spell, but that wasn't the same as having guests, and Misha found he was real enchanted with the idea of setting a table nice and having folks over for chatting and drinks and dining. Could be that was his youth showing, the fact that he had a real magazine-spread expectation of dinner, but he liked the thought, and it felt real pretty in his head. "You can bring whatever you please, but I reckon I like the idea of having folks over. You'll come?" It was asked real hopeful.
"Damian, he's a vegetarian, and he likes things with a whole lot of spice and flavor to them." That was as good as he could describe Damian's culinary taste, since it wasn't real similar to anything in Kentucky. "You can bring something, and we'll make something, and I'll have Damian invite Leena. That's his sister's name, and she ain't never been over neither. It'll be nice, I reckon." He just figured meeting folks was good, and Damian and his sister should spend time, and everyone would end up having a real nice night. Misha, he was channeling Betty Crocker, could be, but with pearls and without the cooking, and it was nice thinking on it. It was plenty domestic, housewife some, and he was getting himself carried away just thinking 'bout it.
He set his glass aside, empty now how it was, and he smiled when she said he could call if he ever needed an ear. "That goes both ways. You need anything, you know how to get in touch with me." She'd just said she would take him up on the same offer, but it was nice to say it, to put something good out into the universe like that, and he was real at ease slouching there, smiling at her and content.
Winnie the Pooh, that made him laugh. "I was Prince Charming in one, which I reckon ain't real different. This is the first time it's been books, but there's always something going on 'round this place. The thing to remember, I reckon, is that it always ends. Things always go back to normal, and something fun might come of it in the meantime." It wasn't always fun, but there wasn't a whole lot of point in fussing her 'bout things that might never come to fruition.
He did follow that talking 'bout busking, and he followed just fine. "I like being in the spotlight. All them folks looking. I know most folks ain't keen on being centerstage, but I always have loved it some. Busking, it gives me some of that while I'm waiting on school to start up." He didn't need the money. Damian was plenty wealthy, and Misha didn't pay for a thing, but he would be real unhappy if he had to live without music and performing. The Capital, it was real big, and it was like a stage in and of itself, out there and real wide and vast. He reckoned that Sadie, she understood.
