Re: Quicklog: Sadie and Misha
Misha, he reckoned he knew Damian was an acquired taste. It was weird some, because some part of him wanted folks to know Damian, to see him and understand that he was a real fine person who was just learning how to be social. To appreciate the boy's dry wit and directness, just how Misha appreciated them things. Some other part of him, some selfish and greedy part, liked that he was the only person who saw Damian how he saw him. That part of him, the selfish one, wanted to keep Damian all to himself. Misha, he made real certain that latter part of him didn't win out, but it sure was present. But, more than that, he wanted Damian to have friends, folks who cared and understood him, and so he smiled and nodded when Sadie said the cooking should be left to them. "You tell me when, and we can put away the things you bring in the fridge, so you ain't got to fuss over them while you're busking." He liked Sadie, and he liked the idea of a real nice meal at the apartment in the Capital.
And, course, there was something real matchmaking 'bout the boy, real fond of loving and romance and the like. "I can invite Damian's sister, if you're inclined. She's real sweet and, I reckon, pretty," he added, remembering that Sadie had told him 'bout loving on a girl once.
He hadn't never thought of putting tea and lemonade together none, but he sure did look like he was considering it now. "I think that sounds like it would be real worth trying," he said earnest of the tea and lemonade mixture.
"Big changes do take time," he said. He'd only had a few of them himself, but there wasn't no doubt that they took their sweet time. "I don't never feel lonesome, but sometimes I do reckon I feel fraught, worried some and sometimes it's 'bout Damian, and then I wonder if I'm doing things right and there ain't no one to speak to 'bout it," he admitted. Sadie, she was real easy to talk to. "You're real sweet and kind. Thank you for the offer," he said, and he was being plenty truthful. It was nice to find someone willing to listen and come when things were lonely.
He sipped at his tea, and he listened as she talked 'bout the carnival and shopping and folks she'd met. "The book party was interesting. I climbed in some books that were sad, but real pretty, and it's interesting, seeing places that wouldn't be visitable none out here. But I'm glad my feet are planted back on the ground here," he said truthful. Misha, he liked the town's weird parties, but he was generally happy when the parties were done and things came themselves back to normal.
"I been doing some busking too, mostly out by that history museum in the Capital. There's always lots of educational folks coming by, and they're generous with their coin. It's less crowded there than in the Village, so there ain't as much competition," he admitted. Not that he was afraid of some healthy competition, but he liked not needing to compete so hard. It felt wrong to him, sometimes, competing, since Janus had said his skills were Heavensent, and not really his on account.
