Re: [ER: Newt & Patrick]
Patrick most certainly felt like he could use a good nap, and it was only the persistent feeling that he needed to remain alert that kept him awake. He knew this. Part of him recognized it in a way that would normally not be most clear to him. But there was clarity with lack of fear, man, and he smiled a little at the other dude. "I feel safe with you here," he said, thoughtlessly, no segue, man, and it had nothing to do with the topic of Adrian's childhood foibles. "He was seventeen? Man, that is not a child, but, all right. I do not think Adrian is a bad dude. But, man, it was still a shitty thing to do to you, fear or not." He smiled that somewhat-loopy smile. again. "Dear heart. You have said this twice."
Again, that was not the point, but the dude was losing focus. Even his death-grip on Newt's hands was lessening by the moment. He looked at the other dude, pinpoint pupils in a vast ocean of seagreen, and he tried to determine the correct thing to do. But, man, in the end, his fear won out. He watched as Newt kissed his hand, and he just blinked most slowly and did not withdraw his grip. "All right. But I think I need to sleep after," he said, as if this was news to anyone in this room.
