Re: [ER: Newt & Patrick]
"Ah, all right." The artful shake of Patrick's head, the loosening of blond and the spill of it over the man's ears, Newt pretended it all offered a great deal of clarity on the topic. "Now I see it." Patrick winked and Newt smiled, trying and failing to keep himself from going red. The laugh—Patrick's—when Newt said he'd thought Patrick would like the case earned a sharp look that wasn't all that sharp, really. "The case," he clarified once more. Newt wasn't one to brag, but what'd he done with the case was unprecedented, and he wasn't so overly humble as not to take pride in his own handiwork when it was warranted.
Patrick described the demons and Newt made mental notes, so he might look them up later, and see if anything existing matched the bill. Otherwise, they might've been something that evolved in the fallout of the world that came before Patrick's. "Do they have arms and wings?"—When the younger man said he tried not to think about the accident with Connie, Newt nodded, a little abashed. "Of course. I'm sorry." He left it at that. "I don't know where Adrian went. I was expelled, but, as I said, the headmaster was talked back in to let me take the last of our tests. But, everyone knew what I'd done. I'm just lucky they didn't think I'd killed Adrian, really. But you needn't be sorry." Newt rolled freckled lips together. "Perhaps he's minimizing. I don't know. It's mind-boggling. Erm, but I don't know that I'd say it's not all right to be gay. Though, it's not often perceived to be all right."
Newt wasn't recanting, but Patrick dropped back against the bed. "Will you talk to someone elsewhere, if I help find you someone? There're people in the Hall Way. Other options. If you will, I'll Obliviate whoever you'd like."
