Re: [ER: Newt & Patrick]
Patrick had a great many preconceived notions about manliness, and the dude was entirely concerned with perception. Perception colored his thoughts on how Newt's hair would feel, and it also caused his mind to trip upon the contradictions he kept stumbling on within the ginger dude. Newt was, by turns, both soft and not, and Patrick's mind was not certain what to do with this information, man. The only thing the medications did was to make him more chill about the contradictions when noticed, but Patrick most absolutely still did notice them. Instead of focusing on them, the dude shook his head, making an artful mess of golden blond hair that fell most poorly over pint-tipped ears. Patrick winked, and he grinned, and he laughed when Newt indicated that he'd like it. Patrick was not generally a 'mind in the gutter' kind of dude, but the nervous laugh could hardly be helped with the comment about hands was paired with that comment about liking it.
Demons, man. Demons. Easy to focus on. "They are grotesque. They walk upright, as we do, but they do not seem to have flesh. They seem to have exoskeletons, and their heads look like grey skulls. They have empty, black eye sockets, and their wings are leathery and constructed like bat wings. They wear no clothing. They have pink gums and pointed, horrible teeth." Dude did not shudder, but he did not like the demons that sometimes preyed upon his people. But still, and even with his dislike, talking about the creatures was easier than talking about what had occurred in his fifteenth year. "Does knowing I died get to me? I try not to think about this, Newt," which was a simple way of replying to it. Man, he did not think about it. He did not think about what it meant, if he had died. He tried not to think about this entire timeline being false or corrupted, and what this might mean. None of it led to good thinking, and so the dude avoided it.
Better to talk about Adrian and the lake. "I knew something occurred, but not the particulars. So, you took the fall. Where did he go? You said you returned to school? I am sorry this happened to you, man. That you had to face this, and that Adrian bailed. But, dude, then why does he not comprehend that it is not all right to be gay?" Which was, maybe, not the best way to pose that question, but dude was unaware. He was also being tugged up, which he allowed, and he was about to reply about Newt notifying others, but Newt was recanting on his offer, or this was how Patrick understood it.
He slouched back against the bed once more. "Man, I'm not going to talk to anyone there."
