"Yep," Loki said with maybe a bit too much glee, "you're mine, little man," he said, nodding towards an empty lane while Kevin chuckled and slid the twenty into the open cash.
'Dial it back there, Liesmith," Nish chuckled, watching but not interfering. Loki did the mental equivalent of waving her off with a grin, leading Ben over to the open lane.
"So, I think first we'll get you comfortable with actually throwing," he said, striding over to the box of house axes and picking one up, handing it to Ben. "These are alright for casual throwing, but if you're planning on doing any leagues or getting more serious, they do sell axes here," he explained. "Just, you know, no going extracurricular with them," he added with a smirk.
Loki picked up the second axe, frowning slightly at it since it wasn't his own well loved and decorated axe, but it was fine for teaching purposes. "There are two ways to throw, one handed and two handed." He demonstrated each as he said it, holding the axe with both hands and swinging it over his head, and then just in one hand and miming throwing it that way. "It's all preference, though you might prefer overhand, it's less about physical strength and more about leverage." He illustrated this by showing him an overhand throw, hitting the target easily right on the edge of the bullseye.
"Another thing to remember, is never throw when another player is collecting their axe. Throw together, retrieve together." He walked up to the target, yanked out his axe, and then returned to the black line. "You're turn. Keep your eye on the target and throw, we'll see what I have to work with."
