Re: [The Bridge over the River: Patrick/Newt]
Newt, man, listen to me. All right? Just listen. I understand that you want to make things better with Adrian. That, for some reason I do not comprehend, you hold yourself responsible for his feelings. But, man, you are never going to make Adrian feel better if you do not return his affections. It does not matter what you do or how hard you try. For Adrian, this one thing, you wanting to be with him, is the only thing. You cannot give this, and you should not have to, and anything less will only hurt more. [It was plain talking, but, again, dude knew it to be true.] And Adrian made it sound as if you were a couple, man. It is true. I believed him. But this is no reason to continue in this now.
[Then, Newt pressed his cheek to brown-covered shoulder. Patrick was the bro-king of shoulder claps and dude-hugs. This was not a dude-hug. Somehow, this was something more than the kissing. Kissing, making out, hooking up, the dude could easily categorize that as being sexual, and somehow being sexual was easier. It was still not easy, and he was still massively freaked out, but he had at least baby-stepped into kissing being not so terrifying (and feeling most nice), but this was different, and it was new, man, and it felt most gay to the golden dude in that clearing. There was a beat of delay, and he awkwardly clapped the dude on the shoulder before allowing his arms to slip in a legitimate hug.
When the nudge came, he let go immediately. Nervously, he grinned.] I am glad I will be leaving on an insult. It makes everything feel right in the world.
