Re: [The Bridge over the River: Patrick/Newt]
It's not so cryptic. As I said, my guess, from knowing you, is that if you decided you wanted to have sex with a man, you'd want to top. Most would look at me and talk to me, and realize I prefer to bottom. Think of it like straight sex in that, the more feminine tend to bottom, the more masculine tend to top. Not always, but usually. [Newt wasn't embarrassed to say these things, and he attempted to be as matter-of-fact about all of it, even if what he was really admitting was that, yes, he'd considered where Patrick ranked in these things.] Do you know, I would know if I was vanilla or not. [As for the smoking:] And do you? Prefer it? [Newt knew he might overstep, so he was careful, even as he was direct.] You said it made you horny. [The word sounded mildly absurd when Newt said it and he smiled, fully aware of this.
Newt wasn't actually dropping his concern. But, he wasn't going to press. Not now. Patrick was obviously upset. They'd come back to it.] You're quite welcome. [The older man looked over at Patrick when he spoke of toxic relationships. He understood that Adrian'd been miserable, but, for whatever reason, he wasn't expecting Patrick to name that. It made him feel guilty, as obviously him and his lack of reciprocation were the cause, and Newt knuckled at an eye as he stood in front of Patrick.] What's my choice, darling? Stop speaking to him? I don't see how. [Newt made to walk around Patrick, but the blond man didn't budge. Newt turned, walking backwards a few steps, ready to insist Patrick come along. He stopped, and again the line felt incredibly blurred.—Patrick had told him, warned him, this was just talking and it felt like he didn't quite have a right to ask for anything. But, well, if he was free to do it. The worse that could happen was Patrick would say no. He didn't close the space between them. From a few feet away, he just asked:] Well, all right, will you kiss me then?
