Re: [The Bridge over the River: Patrick/Newt]
[To Newt, it seemed obvious. Just from how they acted, who would do what.] Erm. It's more about personality. I don't think Adrian would—[He realized only then, that perhaps he shouldn't be saying this to Patrick.] It's mostly about personality, I think. And Sue and Adrian have different personalities. But, it doesn't mean you're always right either, especially if you don't know someone. Which is why there's sometimes talking involved, as horrible as that is to hear, I'm sure. [He said the last bit teasingly, but it was warm and fond, all the same.—As for the bit with Destiny, Newt was surprised Patrick actually didn't seem to mind sharing, in spite of his professed discomfort with such talk. What interested Newt most was the bit about being stoned.] That is quite wild. Almost as wild as me. [He cocked his head in a spill of copper.] Why? Er—why did you get stoned? [He'd thought it was simply a way for Patrick to deal with his fear, but, perhaps it wasn't.
But, Newt was chill. He was chiller, now that they'd walked and talked so more.] If I'm being honest, I'm concerned you think I'm treating you like a child. I know you detest that, and I'd not want to be patronizing. I'm concerned about the rest, of course, but, if you say it's a dumb thought, it's a dumb thought. And Adrian's Adrian. [Which was almost amusing.—Then, close and still, Newt gave another huff when Patrick asked him if he was finished informing him of the obvious.] I suppose that's all of it, yes. [He brushed at his fringe.] I've left you without a choice, have I? [Newt let his gaze drop to Patrick's mouth before it flicked immediately upward to meet sea-churn. He shook his head.] Walk with me or I'm going to ask you to kiss me after you warned me we were just talking, and it'll be mildly embarrassing, after I've been so well-behaved. Come on. [Newt moved around Patrick then, his hands back in his pockets.]
