Re: [The Bridge over the River: Patrick/Newt]
I do not think pursuing the things we want makes us cruel, dude. I think it is healthy. I know these past weeks have not been very illustrative of me attempting to have a healthy mind, but I try. I try to not be manipulated or forced into things, and I attempt to do what is good for me. I do not think this is cruelty. [He shook his head.] No, dude, it will lose impact if I inform you in advance. You will have to be surprised. [He considered Adrian and his stormcloud.] All right, so is there anyone else you trust with this that is not us?
[Patrick shook the bridge with deliberate (and hopefully annoying) force.] Man, you are good and patient. I have seen this. I do not think it is a matter of us being good people or not. I think people who are good need to strive daily to be good. It is not a thing people simply are or are not. [He grinned over at the dude and his freckled and twitchy smile.] Nah, man. It is all good. I know you are attempting to assist. I only seek to remind you that I am not Adrian. I do not require emotional hand-holding at all times. I am sorry about how things have changed with my siblings, but I know these things happen. And there is good with the bad. I had a very good conversation with Dahl, man. It was good. She shared some of her experiences. It was helpful.
[He flopped onto his back too, once Newt closed his eyes.] Talking to her is fine. Are you asking if I wish to get back with her? [A chuckle.] There is no school in the summer, so parents send their children to summer school or summer camp. It is a fun place without books, my dude. We went exploring all summer. The caves, the woods, the orchards. We went swimming in the rec center pool. We planted gardens. We did outdoor things every day. It was most awesome. What did you do during summers?
