It wasn't a book. [Slow.] It was a castle. Big, drafty. Candles in iron on the walls. [Daniel lifted his glass as if to indicate black iron and dense stone that wasn't there. He'd moved his face so only a part of his expression was visible.] A number of bleak men in old costume. [Now the glass drifted cross-wise across his chest, outlining lapels.] And I was very old, and very slow. [What was visible twisted in disgust.
