Re: Quicklog, Patrick's cabin: Patrick G/Newt P
What kind of bees make milk? [He paused again, because delayed gratification was most important in bad jokes.] Boo-bees.
[The levity was nice before the discussion of Adrian and Sue, but Patrick had always enjoyed talking to Newt about things. In fact, Newt was the only person he spoke to about everything, and he was not even certain when this had begun. It was, he understood, the genesis of his guilt regarding Jack's statement in the bar.] I do not think people can be put back together, man, but I do not think how Sue and Adrian exist, as only certain parts of themselves, can ever be entirely healthy. I yelled at Adrian to throw a punch, to yell, and, man, I do not think the dude can. I think all of that lives elsewhere. [He shook his head.] I think the obscurus is something separate. I have seen it in the Capital, with Con, and at the lake, and I suspect you are right this has to do with something else. I do not know anything about Adrian's mom. She was gone long before I was born, and I do not know if he had a relationship with Webster. But Adrian is smart, and Webster would have been proud of him for that.
[Patrick was staring at the ceiling, and he continued doing it while Newt spoke of pain and being wanted. He tried to find words for what he wanted to ask, but, for all the childish bathroom humor, Patrick had never discussed sex in any capacity.] I mean the other stuff, man, the rough sex. Being mistreated. [Patrick did not blush when he asked, but that he found the words challenging was evident in his tone.] Do we all want to be wanted? I do not know, Newt. I have never thought about it romantically. [It was honest, though Patrick felt certain it did not present him in a very positive light.] Dude, you're British. I think we expect British guys to like tea and be softer. [This was how Patrick perceived it, anyway.] Your bro is the same.
[He was sitting now.] Man, Newt, you do not make me uncomfortable. You said it is not negative for you, and I believe this. Nothing is on the line. The only thing it has done is make me unwilling to ask you to help me figure shit out, dude, since injuring you is not on the agenda. [He flopped back again, and then he amended:] And it makes me feel like more of a shitty bro to Adrian, because I would not alter events, even knowing this, but this is not on you.
