Re: Quicklog, Patrick's cabin: Patrick G/Newt P
[They would both feel what they felt. Patrick would agree with this. He would think there was no real point in attempting to talk someone out of feeling what they felt, and this was fine. The dude was not pushy, though he had been more pushy since the books than he had been before, and it was something that did not feel comfortable in its strangeness. He, instead, tried to remember bad humor from his youth, and he grinned when he recalled something appropriate:] If you are American in the living room, what are you in the bathroom? [He waited before offering the punchline.] Euro-peein.'
[He could not argue that Sue was not jealous.] I do not think Sue wanting other people is a reflection on you, and I know this sounds like hypocrisy. [He considered.] Man, Sue is Adrian's bad behavior. I am not certain Sue knows what Sue is. He is someone who exists so that Adrian can shove all the things he dislikes about himself into someone he perceives is not himself, so he can hate Sue with impunity and consider the things he is ashamed of as other. It is why Adrian does not yell or get mean unless he is pushed. He believes these things are not part of him, and they are part of all of us. [There was a bit of a chuckle, though it was mirthless.] I do not even know who to blame this on with Adrian, since I do not think he spent too much time with Webster. [He considered this, and he continued the consideration of it as he stared up at the ceiling.] You have ignored my question about Chant, man. Answer me. [He pushed up onto his elbows, and he looked at Newt.] I do not think it matters what people can see. [But he was not entirely wrapped up in his own closeting.] But you would know this more than I. Do you think people can tell when they look at you? [He sat up when Newt made the admission about the car:] I do not share what I feel, so I understand what you are saying, but I am not sorry you told me, Newt. I know this was not what I expressed that evening, but I am slow sometimes to adjust to new truths.
