Re: Quicklog, Patrick's cabin: Patrick G/Newt P
[Newt chuckled and gave Patrick a smile at the echo.] Git. [But, yes, he could see why dark magic would be dangerous here. Not that it was less dangerous at home. Wizards didn't use guns or anything so mundane. You had men—and some women—with evil intentions and far too much power. But, the bit about the lifeforce and the elves, well, that was surprising and interesting to Newt, who, of course, had a great interest in such.] Did the tree—spawn elves? [Was there a better word for it?] Erm, is it the genesis?
[The information about Sue hardly changed anything, did it? Because what Newt said was still true. Or so he felt.] Perhaps not. But that's how it started. This—today—this isn't about Adrian. Is it horrible, do you think, to resent him for having forgotten me, until he was rather pushed to it? I don't know. [Perhaps it was rather stupid to answer Patrick's questions, but Newt was too open with his friend to stop now.] Oh, what was Daniel's word? 'Treasure me, cherish me,' something like that. Nothing to do with a wall, which I suppose I didn't really want at the time. He's attentive. And Adrian, well, the single time we've had sex, ever—it was a reunion. It was quite a lot of emotion. The mechanics are, across the board, the same. Is that what you mean? About it being the same with women? [Unadvisedly, Newt ventured to ask:] What about with Destiny? [Newt only shook his head again.] No, I'm afraid not.
[He sat.] Well, I'd no idea, did I? Your brother and I didn't, in school. And over the years, I'd get propositioned, but—well, I don't know why I didn't. Perhaps eventually I would've. But I was satisfied with myself, I suppose. [Newt unwrapped his sandwich, which was pita wrapped around falafel and hummus.] Oh, mine? If you aren't too scared, then. [He started to undo the buttons of his shirt, there in the valley between suspenders, pearl-glinting. He stopped, of course, if Patrick's face betrayed him, but otherwise, he went right along.] The Mean-Eyed Cat. [Newt's chin was to his chest as he pushed buttons through their holes and he glanced up through his fringe.] Sue did, did he? It'll sound arrogant, perhaps, but I think he was rather trying to rile you or run you off. Are—Is it something you're interested in? [The mention of Jack made Newt lift his head.] Jack knows nothing the sort. Not from me. What did he say?
