Re: Quicklog, Patrick's cabin: Patrick G/Newt P
They did not know. This is not a very connected world, man. We are on the West Coast here, but no one knows what is on the East Coast. They do not even comprehend there is an East Coast. Travelers are common here, and I was just a traveler among them. [He chuckled.] Dude, dude, no, we started comparing wands in middle school. Didn't you? Maybe British dudes are more polite about their wand measuring. [Another wink. Patrick felt comfortable sitting there, and it was only the pain in his hand and the topic of Sue that made this particular conversation challenging.] The trees still talk. Now, I listen. It is common with druids. You would like Storlock. It is where I trained. But, man, I wanted to be so normal when I was a child. I did not want anything magical or strange, and Con was most wonderful about making believe this was the case. [It was the same kind of denial that came with his sexuality, man, but dude did not make the connection.]
No. [The skirt. It was a joke, and Patrick took the wand when it was handed to him. He turned it over between his fingers, but he did not attempt to wield it; it did not occur to him. He slid his fingers the length of the wand, examining it most carefully, and then he set it down upon the table and reached for the hem of his shirt, where the fabric covered the large scar that ran along his belly, nearly to the hip and for a good foot's length. It was his wordless explanation for why he was laid up for months.] Communication between here and Repose is mostly impossible, dude. There are old towers, and humans have salvaged some batteries, but they use them for social gatherings monthly. [He laughed.] You are an expert in impossible Gunsters, and we both know this.
Dude, he brought up the competition. Not me. I only assured him he'd burnt his bridge by being an ass, and then it became a dick measuring contest, and then it became him insisting his feelings were genuine. It was a roller coaster, man. [He looked up when Newt stood between his thighs; it was required to see the dude as he continued speaking.] Shut it, man. We both do know this. Don't we? [But Patrick was a good patient, and he keep his hand as still as he could manage during the ministrations.] Man, I don't know. I just think you deserve better. [Which was mostly true, though it was maybe not the best thought-out of responses.] You must enjoy sex more than I do, man. Do not ever tell anyone I have said those words, but it is mostly just all right. [It was nearly an echo of Joseph, though the words did not go as far as the man's in the book had done.] What do you like about sex with Sue? Is he the best you have had? [He looked up shamelessly as he inquired. Briefly, he rested a hand on Newt's hip, and then he rested his arm along the table's edge.]
