Re: Quicklog, Patrick's cabin: Patrick G/Newt P
[Newt'd introduced himself to Rufus. Well, he'd introduced Pickett, as well. The barking from within the walls didn't startle him. Few things did. (Sue, for example.) With the nervous twitch of a smile, Newt came into the cabin and its close quarters. Just inside, with chin down and fringe a copper obscurity as he turned to close the door behind him. He closed it quietly, carefully, then let his gaze shift first to Rufus, then to Patrick, who was sitting on the bed, looking as if summer holiday had come early.—Newt did his absolute best not to allow any lingering gaze, and looked up to meet the man's eye.] Hairbun, [was his greeting, exchanged after the 'suspenders' comment. He smiled, less nervously and more warmly. His wasn't quite so charming, but perhaps it had its own endearing qualities.
It was warm in the cabin. Newt realized this rather belatedly, and he was glad he'd not worn a bowtie, even if it did deprive him of something to fidget with. He pushed at his fringe and, after he allowed himself to glance at Patrick's hand, he made a face of sympathy, open on expressive, freckled features. He looked to the man's chest to address him.] It's up to you. The shed's not much bigger. [The satchet caught his eye. Curiosity was bright in less hidden gaze then.] Your stones? [He'd only seen a snatch of them the night before.—Which reminded him that this was all quite muddled, and that Destiny's had come after a... rather embarrassing phone call. Embarrassing because Newt was embarrassed about how he felt and that it was known. He was rather too private to enjoy being known in that capacity. And, of course, there was Jack, who sought to blame Patrick for any and everything that'd occurred, while Newt had fuck-all of an idea what happened.
Bugger.
Newt realized he was standing in silence. He shifted on brown boots splayed wide. He passed the food in its brown paper bag to Patrick—or Patrick's lap, if the ruined hand couldn't make the grasp, and he came nearer to Rufus, hand extended for sniffing and greeting.] Hello, darling.
